Søren Kjeldsen, who has been a professional golfer at the highest level for more than 20 years, has become an ambassador for Børns Vilkår.
Besides his skills in golf, which have brought him four wins on the European Tour and a World Cup title in 2016 with Thorbjørn Olesen, Kjeldsen is known and respected for his fine personal qualities and for being a great family man and father of three children.
He will help to promote the work of Børns Vilkår to stop neglect of children in Denmark through a golf event from which all the proceeds will go to Børns Vilkår.
“Børns Vilkår does really good and impressive work to help children who have been let down or otherwise need support in difficult situations. I want very much to focus on this effort, so hopefully we can motivate more people to support the work,” says Kjeldsen.
Børns Vilkår, which is probably best known for the Child Helpline, has generally focused on neglect, bullying and children who are caught up in a divorce, where its counsellors can support the children. The association gets more than 100,000 inquiries a year, but does not have the capacity to help everyone, says its chairman, Peter Bartram.
“We are very pleased that Søren Kjeldsen has prioritised Børns Vilkår. Søren is an athlete of international standing and also an extremely likeable man with his heart in the right place. We cannot imagine a better ambassador for such an important cause,” says Bartram.
