Søren Kjeldsen wrapped up his full membership of the American PGA Tour, when finishing T9 in The Open Championship at Royal Troon. In 2017 he joins the PGA Tour fulltime. “It has been a dream of mine to test myself in the States for a full season,” Søren Kjeldsen says.
After 19 straight years on The European Tour, the 41-year-old Dane turns his attention to the American PGA Tour in 2017.
Strong showings in this year's major championships and tournaments in the States has secured a full membership of the PGA Tour, and Søren Kjeldsen has decided to exercise this option after careful consideration.
“The European Tour will always have a special place in my heart, as it has been an integral part of my whole career as golfer. But after 19 years of playing the European Tour, it is a dream of mine to test myself against the American elite, the specific courses and the setup the PGA Tour offers. I’m very much looking forward to this opportunity,” Søren Kjeldsen explains.
Søren plans to play the PGA Tour in stints and commute between the States and Denmark during the year as the Kjeldsen family will continue to reside in Denmark.
“My dream has been to play a full PGA Tour schedule for a year and then return to Europe and the European Tour. Therefore, we haven’t looked into moving to Northern America. We love living in Denmark,” Kjeldsen adds.
